Africa-BB-Maps
The Africa’s National Broadband Mapping Systems (Africa-BB-Maps) project is dedicated to transforming digital connectivity across Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Led by the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) and funded by the European Union, this project aims to support the establishment of harmonized broadband mapping systems in eleven partner countries in the SSA region. Broadband mapping systems are designed to produce critical data needed to identify gaps, support data-driven decision-making processes and drive strategic investments in broadband infrastructure across the region.

The Africa-BB-Maps project is part of a larger effort under the Africa-Europe Digital Regulators Partnership, which seeks to foster closer cooperation between the two continents in the field of digital infrastructure. By aligning with the European Union’s Global Gatewaystrategy, the Africa-BB-Maps project will contribute to the broader goal of creating a digitally inclusive world, where everyone has the opportunity to connect, learn, and innovate.
Over the next four years, the Africa-BB-Maps project will work closely with national and regional stakeholders to implement broadband mapping systems in the SSA region, ensuring that the systems established are not only effective but also sustainable and adaptable to the changing needs of the region in the long term.
This project benefits from the funding of the European Union.
